I played laptop security, invest quest, ID theft faceoff and beware of spyware. I chose laptop security because I bought a laptop recently and Ive been thinking about security. I played invest quest because I do some online investing ( yeah, Im a mogul). Iplayed ID theft because I worry about the happening. ALOT. I chose beware of spyware because Im on the computer alot and I stay pretty vigilant about watching for spyware and adware. While they were entertaining I really didnt learn anything I didnt know.

I posted to Lawdon Baker, Justin Yates, Jennifer Obrien and Dan Hoge.

For my research I looked up web development as a career since that is my ultimate goal. I discovered that term really covers a lot of ground. There are lots of job postings for the skill set that comes from being a web developer. The same languages and server/client side type of applications. There is nothing specific about what youll be doing for each company but there seems to be a large demand for those skills.

My network will begin with my SBC yahoo modem. I will connect that to a Linksys 4 port router with cat 5 cable. I use wires for speed and security. To the router I will use cat 5 to connect 1 of my 3 computers and my printer which will be networked to print from 2 of the ports. I will use one port for my playstation 3 and the last port I leave open for my laptop. For security I use the firewalls and other programs that come with my router and from SBC.

One thing id like to explore further about operating systems is the way the boot strap program in the ROM works. I can start today by surfing the internet about operating systems and in particular the boot strap program. Over the next few days I could send emails to programmers and probably have a sit down conversation with a computer progammer about this subject. Over the next few months I could take courses pertaining to programming to learn more. Over the next couple years I could become a programmer with a small firm. Over the next decade i could get a BS in software engineering and become employed at Microsoft and work on developing operating systems and then i would truly understand how the boot strap programs work. My goal is to become a professional web developer so studying programming would do nothing but help me along this path.

My dream computer will consist of an AMD Phenom x4 Quad Core 9600 processor mounted on an Nvidia Nforce 780a SLI motherboard fitted with 4 gigs of Corsair twin x 2048mb pc6400 ram and 3 XFX Geforce 9800 graphics cards powered by a G ultra x3 ULT 40064 1000w power supply. All of this will be housed by an Ultra Etorque ULT 33180 mid-tower ATX case that will also house 2 Sony DRU-U200S/B2 disc drives and a Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1tb. hard-drive. My periphrials will consist of a I-inc IF-281 DPB 28″ monitor and a Logitech cordless desktop S510 keyboard and mouse combo. Windows Vista will be my operating system. The total cost of this computer will be around $2,300.00.

this is the old arguement about technology….i have no doubt that the first homonid to realize he could use a rock to crack open a nut soon realized he could use the same rock to crack open the head of his rivals…..i dont believe any technology ever invented will be bereft of evil uses…..its a law of human nature that good things will be put to bad uses…..i figure you can either accept

im 44 years old….ive worked for southwest airlines for nearly 20 years and i think ive finally figured out what i want to be when i grow up….i really like working on computers……i built my own home computers…..all 3 of them…..i love online gaming and believe it or not i actually enjoy a good computer glitch …..i like to trying to fix it…..im hoping to get into web development as a sideline and in a few years be abel to retire from southwest and work at home making websites…..im really looking forward to the classes im currently taking.
